The God Theory

Can you beleive in the creation of the universe,  the Big Bang and God?

Can you beleive in spirituality AND science.

The answer is yes.

Bestsellers by Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris have denounced the evils of religion and proclaimed that science has proven that there is no God. Their angry accusations are partially correct.

Religions have been used to justify crimes against humanity: witness the Inquisition of centuries past or the sectarian slaughter in the Mideast today.

Religions are indeed a problem.

But the human misuse of religions and the existence of God are very different matters.

What then, is God?

Bernard Haisch, Ph.D., is an astrophysicist and author of over 130 scientific publications. In his new book, The God Theory he proposes the following:

A remarkable discovery has emerged in astrophysics: that key properties of the Universe have just the right values to make life possible. Most scientists prefer to explain away this uniqueness, insisting that a huge, perhaps infinite, number of unseen universes must therefore exist, each randomly different from the other. That way ours only appears special because we could not exist in any of the other hypothetical universes.

I propose the alternative that the special properties of our universe reflect an underlying intelligence, one that is consistent with the Big Bang and Darwinian evolution. Both views are equally logical and beyond proof. However exceptional human experiences and accounts of mystics throughout the ages do suggest that we live in a purposeful universe. In The God Theory I speculate on what that purpose might be… what that purpose means for our lives… how it might explain the riddle of evil.

View this Four minute video discussing why it is possible to believe in both science and God, a God that is compatible with the Big Bang and evolution.

Is there a plausible purpose behind the Universe consistent with modern astrophysics? And when we discover the reason - will religion become obsolete and give away to Science and Spirituality?

Very good theory presentation. But let's start first with one thing and then bring in this theory.
Start with nothing and explain the universe and the physical properties of it.
When you then begin in such a way it will
dawn on you if there is an intelligence that brought this all about. You must remember you begin with nothing.
How can a big bang become in the first place? Please answer me that. There must be a reaction and a movement plus
material for it to become a big bang. And where did this material that supposedly
caused this all come from in the first place? You have only a theory and it doesn't hold very much to it. No self can be unless it has some origin or infinite spiritual element. If you ever want to see that spiritual element then watch something die. And if you are a Silva method graduate then you can see it fly.

I've always tended to think along the lines of spirituality and science. I would however, like to play Devil's Advocate on the main point of the Video. Life adapts to incredibly extreme conditions on earth, so why shouldn't it have adapted to other conditions on other planets. Just because WE couldn't live in those conditions doesn't mean other forms of life couldn't.

Have long tussled with the God concept. So did do a blog write-up to express my views. From what I've read on the net, and reading views from others, this is a very volatile subject. Do I believe, absolutely.

As a Spiritual Atheist I see that mankind is a Spirit entity in a material body. So, when we look for life elsewhere it is not there - nor is it here! True life is when the Spirit is Free. (what we call death or heaven,) and death is when the Spirit is encased in matter, what religion calls 'life.'
The 'invisible' Spirit may indeed dwell on other planets, while it would not survive a human body (death).

  5. Greg McClain Says:

I find the debate facinating and the logic circular. The universehas to have had intelligence in it's design because we exist. We exist because we exist and there is no given proof in the theory that proves we exist by design or by random chance. We cannot use existence as the proof of design.

The intelligent design is a leap of faith and those who have it see it and those that don't wonder.

  6. ALICE Says:

We exist because we are all created by God and he made us originally in His own image - sound familiar?

Yes - its true for millions of believers and one day science will agree I think, that this is likely.

Millions of believers "know" it is already.

    a believer!

  7. Randolph Says:

I have to agree with JannC. In fact, mainstream science already acknowledges all forms of extremophiles not only on this planet, but throughout the universe - including bacteria living in the vaccuum of space in the asteroid belt.

What the PhD's are saying is that we are a special variation of life in the universe in that we have become conscious of ourselves because of the special conditions provided. These special conditions can only have been provided by the proper intelligence.

For myself, I have never been a big fan of the big bang theory; it is a postulation upon which scientists have found some evidence. The same applies to black holes.

What the PhD's for the God Theory are saying is that we our existence can only have been shaped by intelligence. Of course, you have to understand it from their perspective.

Like all good scientists they understand the universe better through their own sparks of enlightenment. Just as one can see a paperclip is more than just a paperclip, the PhD's understand that physical reality is more than physical reality; it is also frozen light.

Any good scientist in biophysics or quantum electrodynamic bioenergetics can tell you that the first manifestation of the holographic paradigm which we refer to as the mind is light. Our minds are part of the same holographic paradigm as God's, therefore, we also generate our own realities.

Although some realities are small and twisted while others are tied up in trivial pursuit, there are those such as the scientists behind the God Theory who realize how much more useful Our Reality can be once we all see that 'reality' can be so much more than it is now.

    Peace

Could God in some way have used evolution - discovered through science in creating the world? Some people say no - that God created the world in a literal six days, and there was no time for anything to evolve. Others believe that the "days" of creation may not have been literal days, but could have have been extended periods of time, even millions of years. People holding this view make room for God to have used evolution to create various species of living things. For many of us, the answer to this question regarding God, science and the big bang depend on how literally you interpret the Bible and the seven days of creation.
Whether you believe that God created the world is six twenty four-hour days or over many millions of years, the most important factor to grasp is that God acted in creation. The universe didn't come about simply by chance or on its own through a big bang. God created it and us and every living thing around us.

  9. sweettoni Says:

The things that science has found the universe to be made of was used by God to make the universe and us. Yes I do believe in God and science. it make sense. You can't make something from nothing. Science can only prove what is physical, yet must retain an open mind as to what is not. Just because it cannot be seen does not mean that it cannot or does not exist.

  10. catandannie Says:

Surely everything depends on your interpretation of the word God. It does not have to be a religious view. We do not have to worship it. Surely the fact that there are so many varieties of religion, all believing that their own vision of God is the true one, is enough to prove that none is correct.

God could just be the name for everything that exists, physical, spiritual or whatever!

  13. Espen K. Antonsen Says:

This has been in my thoughts for a long long time! I have even an idea about if GOD is the Universe itself? If God is the universe itself then it also fits to the writings in the Bible that says that he gave of him self to create the world and everything around it.Lets say that the very fact of size does not matter as a hypothesis is the theory behind this it means that we may be a small small detail inside Gods body whos wondering around in his heavenly lands in another Universe where we are not able to be! We may be just some disposable parts of the total atomic structure that the Universe also looks like inside Gods body! If we act like virsuses we may become disposable and will be transformed to a more simple general matter. This I view in regards to the biblical views of the prophesys of the end of the world and the judgement! Who knows its just a theory!!

  14. Espen K. Antonsen Says:

Interresting that it has become open about the GOD issue within scientific circles! Who is this GOD or creator? Is it RA. ODIN, ZEVS, JAHVE, ALLAH or ? The God or creator idea is only an open theory like any other and lets it open to not be officially unthinkable at least

I aked for the free lessons to my home computer so I could see if your material was any different to my own NLP training. I found that it is much the same as other training I have received and reading I have done. Very nicely done, very nicely presented. However, I did not subscribe to receive these materials at the University where I work. So I was rather annoyed to find that the emails are being sent to my University webmail address also. I will unsubscribe for this reason.

These are timeless questions that people have debated for so long. I think what most want is concrete proof of what is really going on. Scientists by definition study only what can be observed. They test their theories. If they didn't do that then we would not be as advanced in many areas as we are. Science has broken through a lot of the power of religion to control peoples' minds. In many ways we owe a lot of our freedom today to the development of science. Just study Leonardo DaVinci's life to realize how lucky we are to be living in a time where most people are not controlled by religious domination.
And yet there is something missing in all that science has done for humanity. It's missed the boat on the things that are intangible. There are things that are not observable that many experience and know are real. There is no accounting for the coincidences and experiences of many. People who believe in a creator are made fun of and put down because it is not observable. As I see it science is now becoming more responsive to these intangible experiences and beginning to study them.
They are discovering new things about how our brains work and quantum physics. Will we ever find out just exactly how we came to be? Who knows. Perhaps if we do then we will truly be able to harness the great power and energy of an intelligent creator.

i believe that behind this deep sky, somewhere, far away, there are many planets similar to ours.
we all know that there are an infinity of suns...this surely means that there are an infinity of galaxies...so i guess is impossible that there isn't any planet situated at the ideal distance from one of those suns...so, I'm quite sure there is life outside our solar system.
This theory with god is in someway manipulative...
    this is my opinion :)

  18. Mike Says:

There is no proof of the bing bang or evolution. Nor is there any hard proof that the BIBLE is correct. But there is more proof for these two theories than there is for any other religions theories. So, from what I gather it's basically just a battle to see which view is correct-the BIBLE or the big bang. But keep in mind that Jesus said that all things in the BIBLE (even Genesis) are to be taken litteraly. Therefore, it's the word of scientists againsts the word of Jesus, the only begotten son, God Incarnate.

  19. John Says:

Excuse me...your statement is very wrong.

"But keep in mind that Jesus said that all things in the BIBLE (even Genesis) are to be taken litteraly. Therefore, it’s the word of scientists againsts the word of Jesus, the only begotten son, God Incarnate."

The bible was written way AFTER Jesus died.

And it contains too many inconsistencies to be taken literally.

  20. Kyle` Says:

Okay, well some problems here. First of all there is not an infinity of stars or galaxies, just a whole lot. In fact, there are more neurons in the brain of humans than stars in the entire Milky Way. Secondly, there is no such thing as evolution. I believe in natural selection and indeed the whole Galapagos Finch study was truly a result of natural selection. Natural selection makes perfect sense. If one animal is more capable of surviving, it will survive. I mean, look at us, we a harvesters for the most part and we flourish. Now, back to evolution and natural selection. Natural selection doesn't result in evolution and indeed evolution has never been shown, only again theorized. In fact, good ole Darwin was actually heavily involved in the Church until he came upon a book on Geology. So the finches did not evolve, they were naturally selected because those with bigger beaks could eat the seeds that those with smaller beaks couldn't open. This all happened as a result of a drought. But guess what happened after the drought ended and the rains came...the finch population returned to normal and the smaller beaked finches flourished cause there were more easy-to-open seeds available. Considering that these finches were the main reason for Darwin doing his evolution thing, we should be skeptical at the least. Not to mention that the whole title of Darwin's book was originally: "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life." Don't believe me, wiki it.
So, there is no place for evolution cause the Earth was created to nurture life and the life on it was created with infinite wisdom.
Basically there is no need for science to burden itself with puny little attempts to control and organize the universe because God could flip it and reverse it before I finish this sentence. Although I must admit, what I have read was interesting.
Again, interesting, but that is all. People should read this and others for its entertainment value, that is all. The only guidebook for the Universe is free to all.
